Christian KISS?
I was lost, but now I'm found! I used to think that Christians were weird, until the day STRYKEN came to town. Now I just have bad dreams.
Notice the guy second from the right. He's got AOG written on his outfit (or perhaps he's holding up a sign or something...I don't know). I assume that stands for Assemblies of God. If my memory serves me correctly, I remember alot of weird bands, like this, coming out of the AOG churches back in the 80's. This group was hoping to ride the wave of the Stryper phenomena. Perhaps there is a connection between bad theology and bad music. Perhaps that's why there is such lousy music in most Southern Baptist churches. Perhaps it's just the connection between the 80's and music in general. Yea, I think that's probably it.

You will thank me later!
So, are you saying there's bad theology in most Southern Baptist Churches? Explain yourself-since you're half southern Baptist. Kari
I wasn't allowed to listen to Stryper growing up-especially after their "to hell with the devil" record. Then again, I wasn't even allowed to listen to Michael W. Smith! Rebellious music!! Kari
When taking shots at others, I think it's only proper to take shots at oneself. We should be judged by the same standards that we judge others. I think I read that somewhere?
I stand corrected.
According to my indepth research on Stryken (go to www.historyofchristianmetal.com/stryken.html) they didn't try to ride the coat-tails of Stryper at all--they actually had the name "Styker" copyrighted in the late 70's. Stryper supposedly threatened to press a lawsuit against them for using that name. After prayer and discussion, the group changed their name to Stryken.
Wow. Studying church history is so inspiring!!!
You can really see their humility oozing beneath their mascara.
"Dear God, we know how you say we should love our neighbors as ourselves and even though Stryper isn't acting very loving we just want to do your will. Should our name remain Stryker in order to win the masses of Stryper fans that can't spell or should we keep the peace as much as possible?"
"IT IS TO BE STRYKEN"
While I was reading the intense account of their name change, I was beginning to question Joey's salvation. It's clear, even to me, that the "r" was supposed to be an "n" all along. I guess that blasted sin can creep up on the best of us...
